The city's well-maintained public spaces, walkable streets and welcoming atmosphere make it a prime spot for safe budget travel. From my personal experience visiting Nice twice, I never felt unsafe and quickly made incredible friends as a solo traveler. This guide is here to enhance your experience, but Nice itself has a way of turning solo moments into shared memories! As with any destination, it’s important to exercise caution and always area of your surroundings, keep belongings secure, and stay informed.


Day 1: Old Town Marvels: Market, Sunset, Nightlife

Upon your arrival in Nice, prioritize checking into your accommodation before embarking on your exploration of the Old Town. This ensures a seamless transition into your stay, allowing you to drop off your belongings, freshen up, and start your journey through the charming and historic streets with a sense of ease and comfort.

Tilly’s Tip: I recommend you opt for Villa Saint Exupery in Nice – perfect for budget travelers seeking both savings and a lively atmosphere. This centrally located hostel ensures a memorable and sociable stay, making it an excellent choice for your time in the city. Check-in opens at 3pm.

Day 2: Cultural Enrichment and Beach Bliss

Start your second day in Nice with a delightful breakfast at a cozy café tucked away in Old Town, embracing the historic charm of the area. Following your morning indulgence, choose between exploring the awe-inspiring Cathedral Saint-Nicolas de Nice or one of the many museums.

Venture into the captivating Old Town, where history and charm await around every corner. Lose yourself in the maze of narrow streets and alleyways as you explore the vibrant Cours Saleya market. Engage with local vendors and perhaps sample some regional treats as you immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere.

After experiencing the bustling market, it's time to ascend Castle Hill (Colline du Chateau) to witness the breathtaking sunset over the city and the Mediterranean Sea. The climb offers not only stunning views but also a sense of tranquility as you find the perfect spot to marvel at nature's spectacle.

To conclude this magical day, head to Wayne's Bar, a beloved spot among tourists. Delight in the lively atmosphere, mingle with fellow travelers, and enjoy the vibrant nightlife that makes Wayne's Bar a must-visit destination.


Day 3: Departure OR Riviera Adventure

On your final day in Nice, it's time to check out from your accommodation. As you bid farewell to the city, consider turning this day into an exciting day trip. Explore the glamour of Monaco, the medieval charm of Eze, the serene beauty of Menton, or the breathtaking landscapes of Gorge du Verdon. Choose the adventure that resonates most with you, creating lasting memories before concluding your unforgettable journey on the French Riviera.

After your enriching museum visit, take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque Promenade des Anglais, soaking in the stunning views of the azure sea and vibrant cityscape.

For a relaxing afternoon, venture to the esteemed Opéra Plage beach club, where you can unwind under the iconic blue and white umbrellas (19 euros) and savor a delectable lunch right by the sea.

As the sun dips below the horizon, indulge in a beachside dinner along the beach road, savoring the coastal ambiance. Later, return to the hostel to partake in the bar crawl, ensuring a stop at the vibrant Waka Bar for an unforgettable night out.

Tilly’s Tip: I recommend dinner at Di Più. I enjoyed a delicious pasta dish with a spectacular view from the outdoor terrace where I could watch the sunset over the sea.
